Coffee Culture Is Growing And There Are Some Great Spots To Indulge Your Coffee Addictions!
We have been hearing great things about some fantastic new coffee spots around town. Many are talking about the quirky, trendy and fun spots to get great food and awesome coffee. Here are three of our new finds in no particular order.
The Boiler Room
Located at the iconic Lion Match Factory, The Boiler Room is situated in the old boiler room of the factory. This quirky new kid on the block is certainly making some waves. Owners Graham and Gina Nielson are no new kids on the block with Durban’s best food though. They own the hugely successful and famed 9th Ave Bistro.
The location of their new baby, The Boiler Room, required them to provide an eatery for the many tenants at the Lion Match Factory. Keeping with the factory theme, the decor maintains an industrial theme. It serves great food, including breakfasts and sandwiches as well as a selection of cakes and desserts. Their coffee of course, is aromatic and draws you in with a thick scent of luxurious richness.
Find them at Lion Match Office Park,892 Umgeni Rd. Opened Mon – Fri 7:30 – 3:30. Sat: 8am -2pm
The Verve In Umhlanga
This lovely artisan coffee shop is based in the busy business hub of Umhlanga. Decorated with second hand office style furniture, The Verve is everything quirky that coffee lovers feel at home in.
An office away from the office, it provides great working spots for those hoping to “plug in” to some creativity, atmosphere and vibe. They offer free wifi and comfy couches to sink into and indulge in coffee and cake, we don’t imagine anyone can’t fall in love with The Verve.
To accompany your delicious artisan coffee or tea, is a great selection of sweet treats. For the non-sweet tooth folk, there is a light menu including toasted sandwiches, hotdogs and the likes.
Find The Verve at Unit 1, 59 Meridian Drive Umhlanga. They open Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 4pm.
parc At Glenwood
Not entirely new but still amazing to visit is parc. A great cafe experience with the beauty of leafy Glenwood, parc offers you great food, great service and great coffee. Designed around a truly Durban culture, the menu makes use of great seasonal items. This can assure you that food is fresh and delicious.
The coffee, what can be said! Few words can do the expert blends justice. Between the amazing scents, green lush and beautiful scenery in front of you, you will quickly find yourself at parc more often as the days go on.
There is also a great shop to find beautifully crafted trinkets and bit or just for a quick squizz.
