Evolving into what has become the biggest Diwali festival on the African continent, the DDF has grown beyond just songand dance, with weekend festivities centered on community upliftment and spiritual and cultural awareness.Recognising the principles of Hinduism and the symbolism of Diwali, the theme for the 2016 Diwali festival is:

Racism Stops with Me – Vasudaivam Kutumbakam (the world is one family).

The festival kicks off on Friday, 21 October, with a Senior Citizens’ afternoon, where the elderly will be treated with entertainment. DSTV will feature Mona Maharaj in song. Colours TV hosts dance competition finals and the Raiders and Dynachords perform ‘blast from the past’.
