There Is A Great New Shop In Town Filled With Goodies From Durban’s Finest Talent!!

Yesterday, I Love Durban mentioned the great store to look around when visiting parc in Glenwood. We are happy to have found even more reasons to make this shop a “must visit” on your list of things to do.

The Kwa-Zulu Natal Society Of Arts (KZNSA) has re-launched their much loved Shop and it is packed from floor to ceiling with awesomeness! Located in the KZNSA Complex on Bulwer Road, the shop manages to capture a side of Durban that not many others can.

“We are incredibly excited about the opening because it’s our chance to reveal our stock of “Local Only” merchandise / items,” says Angela Shaw KZNSA Gallery Complex Manager.

“At the beginning of 2014 we embarked on a policy of stocking only KZN, South African or hand-made work from other African countries on the floor. In addition, we have taken the opportunity to refresh all the existing lines in the shop,” Angela said.

And refresh they did! Best be prepared to walk out with something, we can almost guarantee that you that something will follow you home. It could be anything from an African Proverbs notebook to a new couch. We just wanted everything! With festive season around the corner, the Shop is a great place to start ticking some names off on your Christmas shopping list.

Two Levels Of Artsy Heaven

The two leveled shop, although packed with an array of wonders, is quite easy to navigate around. The ground-floor area is  gift focused, with affordable smalls made locally.  The mezzanine, ‘boutique’ space will carry more collectable, once-off and
designer pieces.

“One of the prime aims with this new set-up is to educate our customers about the value of collecting local work, as well as the opportunity to discover the work of makers they don’t know, or can’t find anywhere else,” Shaw continues. “Collectable
works include Angeline Masuku basketry, Thembi Nala ceramics, hand-blown glass pieces by Guido von Besouw.”
