We’re all guilty of skipping the gym sometimes… Life is hectic you know! And I, like many others, have a habit of excuses over exercising. My every day cardio consists of running my mouth and jumping to conclusions.

So this has been a great opportunity to revisit my fitness goals – I was excited to take on the challenge.

Day 1

Nothing inspires me to do anything like a great outfit – and what better than an 80′s inspired look to get me going. I donned my leg warmer’s and everything neon in sight and geared myself for a serious workout using a combination of fitness apps on the TV. I was pleasantly surprised – I am not new to fitness apps, having dabbled in exercise in the past, and I found all the apps that I tried out to be easy to use, instructive and enjoyable. My favourite apps had to be the Your Squat and Your Sit-up (for some reason I much prefer muscle exercises to all others!)

I honestly enjoyed my work out – in the comfort and privacy of my own home!

Day 2

Still a little stiff from my 80′s inspired work out – I readied myself for something a little less strenuous today – my favourite exercise and a personal hobby – yoga. There were two yoga apps on the TV, Your Yoga, and Yoga Helper, I decided to try out both! Being fairly proficient I thought I would be able to judge the apps adequately and I must say I was not disappointed. I personally loved Yoga Helper. I started off by choosing a difficulty level (Intermediate) and the number and duration of the poses I’d like to do. I enjoyed the fact that I got to decide how long to hold each pose as many apps have arbitrary timing and that can ruin the experience. The music was calming and helped regulate my breathing and the virtual inductor was motivating and calming all in all I was a very zen experience – less strenuous not really…

Day 3

I decided that for the last day of the challenge I would do a ‘Best of’ workout, where I just picked the apps and exercises I liked most over the last two days. I started off with light stretching and yoga, and then moved on to cardio using the personal trainer app. I did some muscle exercises next. I really loved working out at home, there’s no one to judge your heavy breathing and or sweaty brow, just good, no holds barred, exercise.
