1. KickstART 2017 James and The Giant Peach

Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre: 5-23 July
Durban’s astonishing multi awarding winning production house, KickstArt, will be presenting James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl for the July School Holidays at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on UKZN campus.

2. Pieter-Dirk Uys- Returns- The Echo of a Noise

Master satirist, the indefatigable Pieter-Dirk Uys, comes to the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre with his show: The Echo of a Noise.

3. City Supports Durban Presence at NAF

Grahamstown: 29 June- 9 July
Arts and Living Cultures, eThekwini Municipality is supporting 12 Durban theatre groups enabling them to attend and perform at this year’s National Arts Festival taking place in Grahamstown  from 29 June until 9 July.
eThekwini’s support is enabling 120 theatre makers from 12 different productions across various genres to have a presence on the Fringe of this year’s NAF.

4. The Ildo Nanja Trio

The Jazzy Rainbow: Friday 7 July from 7pm
The Ildo Nandja Trio will perform at The Jazzy Rainbow in Durban’s Morningside on Friday 7 July as part of the Concerts SA Venue Circuit which aims to foster a love and support for live music in our communities.

5. Chloe Clark & The Burton Naidoo Trio

St Agnes auditorium in Kloof: Friday 14th July
The Rotary Club of Kloof are staging a funraising show featuring Chloe Clark and the Burtan Naidoo trio with a 3 piece brass back up. Booking via Computicket (online or at Checkers) R150 and R130 for pensioners and students. 18h30 for 19h00 with secure parking.

6. Submit your Music Tour Funding Application to Concerts SA

Planning a music tour but unsure how to fund it? Apply to Concerts SA’s Music Mobility Fund which will select new projects to support in July.

7. Find healing through the art of writing

Westville, Durban: 13 June to 8 August 2017
Write to Right is a specialised short interactive writing course which is being offered by two leading Durban-based creative thinkers – a physician Laura Campbell and an artist / theologian, Bernice Stott – as a vehicle to encourage healing and wellbeing.

8. Dare2Share

Denis Hurley Centre: Friday 14 July
Getting to know the homeless of Durban: Statistically and Personally.
To attend the evening or the night event, you must register in advance by email iDare2Care@iCare.co.za or online or get a form from the Denis Hurley Centre. There is an entrance fee of R100; you are then challenged to raise R1,000 in sponsorship from friends which will help iCare and the Denis Hurley Centre in their work.

9. The Durban International Film Festival brings Germany to South Arica

Durban, South Africa: 13 to 23 July
The 38th edition of the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) is set to captivate audiences with a German Focus, which features ten gripping films by some of Germany’s finest directors, a masterclass by German film industry professionals, as well as networking sessions with the cream of the international film industry crop.

10. Mini World Youth Day

Durban Exhibition Centre and surrounds: 6 – 10 Dec 2017
A Gathering in Durban of young Catholics from Southern AfricaJune is the month earmarked on our national calendar to celebrate and consider the young people of our land.
Bookings are now open for the Mini World Youth Day. All information and booking details can be found on the conference website: https://miniworldyouthday.co.za/. Included in the registration fee charged for the three days will be accommodation and catering. The conference is open to Catholic youth between the ages of 18 and 35 years.

11. Beauty and its Beasts- Has the female stereotype changed ?

Durban Art Gallery: 31 March to 28 May 2017
An exhibition entitled Beauty and its Beasts designed to stimulate contemplation about women, and raise questions about the way we create, perpetuate or allow gender stereotypes.

12. BBC Blues . Berea Bowling Club: Bowls & music every Monday

BBC BLUES – R 50-00
The new venue is Berea Bowling Club in Ferguson Rd, Glenwood for Bowls and Music.
It will be called BBC BLUES (Berea Bowling Club Blues)
People can attend and play bowls from 4pm (they also have flood lights) There will be members in attendance to assist non bowlers. They also have bowls available.
Music will be as per before from 6 – 9 pm.
They have a full bar and a full kitchen with a catering lady.
