Durbanites are in for an absolute treat today as the two new favorites on the block, Rivertown’s Beerhall and the Morning Trade Market team up to bring you an Urban Picnic. The Rivertown Precinct has undergone a tremendous revival, having launched in August during the UIA in Durban.
The Beerhall has already hosted some of the most creative and well attended event in recent times, with the Rivertown Precinct quickly becoming the hub of creativity, lifestyle and arts.
It’s neighbor, The Morning Trade Market, housed at 08 Morrison Street has also seen ongoing and great support since it launched on 03rd August 2014. The Morning Trade opens its doors every Sunday to showcase and sell fresh, well prepared food whilst stocking you up on farm fresh veggies, smoked meats and a variety of other goodies to follow you home.
What Can You Expect From The Urban Picnic
Today’s Rivertown Beerhall’s Urban Picnic with The Morning Trade is designed to bring awareness to the great local flavors as well as a introducing Durbanites to a variety of foods, culture and different experience available in our city.
How Does it Work?
People attending the event today can purchase a picnic kit at The Morning Trade. Your kit includes a picnic hamper box, cloth, cutlery and condiments. The cost of the kit is R30. You can then fill up your box with as much goodies from the Morning Trade Market as you can carry. Choose from falafels, egg and bacon rolls to fresh vegetarian delights. Sweet tooths could find themselves in trouble as there are just truly delectable desserts on sale as well. Please note that only food purchased from the Morning Trade will be allowed into the Beerhall so as to promote the experience of different foods. The kit is not compulsory, but we are sure will be very useful.
Once you have gathered all your goodies, you can take a quick stroll down the street to the Beerhall where you can set up your picnic in the uber trendy venue to enjoy live music performances and djs and the unique ambiance.
For all those late raisers, fear not if you have missed out on getting goodies from the Morning Trade. Food and a well stocked, large variety of local craft beers will be on sale at the Beerhall if you have not managed to get to the Morning Trade before it closes. The first live performance stars at 12, so be sure not to miss out on Portia, whose phenomenal voice and great performance is quite spectacular.
