Beautiful Pictures of the Snow in South Africa.
Even though snow has already fallen in most parts of the country last week, we can expect the chilly weather to continue for the next few days.
Durban has been beautiful and sunny, but the snow in South Africa and some parts of KZN has sent temperatures plummeting. Temperatures as low as 12 degrees, were recorded in Durban last night.
Snow fell in many parts of the country on Friday, the South African Weather Service said. We know that South African’s love snow, so here’s our top 10 pictures from last weeks snow.
“Snow started to fall on Thursday evening in parts of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, southern Lesotho, as well as in the Drakensberg mountains in KwaZulu-Natal,” forecaster Bransby Bulo said. Snow was sighted at Drakensberg Gardens, Sani Pass and Underberg. The most beautiful picture were taken at Hogsback in the Eastern Cape.
As most of the country battled the cold weather, the first snowflakes fell in various parts of the Eastern Cape, forcing road closures. Temperatures dropped from 2 to 0° Celsius.
Snow also fell in southern parts of the Free State, Lesotho, and the western high ground of KwaZulu-Natal on Friday.
Much of the Western Cape is seeing the end of the bad weather.
However, many parts of the rest of the country are in for sub-zero temperatures.
Johannesburg saw strong winds on Friday morning, combined with single digit temperatures.
The cold snap comes just as we prepare to welcome Spring.
