Last Sunday The IBV Supercar Club broke a new Guinness World Record for the most amount of money for charity raised by a parade of supercars. Two hundred supercar owners came together in Durban to give two hundred young orphans a once in a lifetime experience and set a new Guinness World Record by raising just over R1 million.
The aim was to raise the most amount of money for charity by a parade of supercars. The novel “give-back-to-charity- initiative” was put together by the IBV Supercar club – an elite group of luxury car owners. 211 luxury cars lined up for the IBV Supercars club charity event on Sunday morning. The fast cars that lined up Durban’s Golden Mile in beautiful Durban included Ferraris, Maserati’s, Lambhorgini, Mercedes, Rolls Royce and more.
“I cannot believe that there are so many Supercars in Durban!”, exclaimed many.

The cars were carrying precious cargo, two hundred young orphans from KwaZulu-Natal that would be chauffeur-driven along the picturesque M4 coastal highway out of Durban and to Salt Rock on the north coast. The children said it was an experience of a life time. “I’m very excited and it was a great experience I really enjoyed it. The cars are really cool, the rims and the engines mostly the V8′s are my favourite .I love the Lamborghinis just the shape,” says one of the children.
You can see the ecstatic reaction of CEO of IBV International Vaults, Ashok Sewnarain in the video when the record was announced. He said he was incredibly humbled and grateful to all those that participated in this record breaking attempt. He said the event was also a time for two worlds that would not ordinarily meet, to come together in the name of a good cause.
“There is the rich in the world and there is the poor. We want to create the platform and synergy so that this link between a supercar owner and an orphan, we want to create that platform of a bond of contact for conversation travelling for about 45 minutes and make an acute awareness and that’s when we can translate this to the super rich so that there is more equality in our community.”
“IBV would like to thank each and every individual, corporate, partner, volunteer and the media in making this a phenomenal success. Our aim was to raise more than R1million in a Supercar Parade and through the proud efforts of every single person and those that pledged money, we did it!”, he said.
