1. Sunflower Fund Walk

Lungani Nkonyeni, Bongiwe Ndaba, Melody Ngcamu and Nonhlanhla Mdlalose from SUNCOAST, the Blood Buddy and SANBS’ Jay Naidoo are getting ready for the Hyper 5km Fun Run/ Walk for Charity on Sunday, 14th September starting at 9.30am. The South African National Blood Services will be holding a mobile blood clinic so please support as your blood could save a life.

The run/walk starts at the Amphitheatre in front of SUNCOAST and goes along the boardwalk to the Durban Spa Vacation Resort and back. Pre-registration is recommended.

Registration takes place at Pick n Pay Hyper in Durban North on Saturday, 6th and 13th September between 10am to 5pm and at SUNCOAST, outside Mugg& Bean on the Boardwalk on Saturday, 13th September from 1pm to 3pm and at the SUNCOAST SunZone on the morning of the race, Sunday, 14th September, from 7.30am to 9.00am.

Prize-giving will take place directly after the race and five substantial lucky draw prizes will be awarded. People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate as all money raised will be used to help children and young adults diagnosed with leukaemia. Come join in the fun and help The Sunflower Fund reach their target of 3000 participants.

The Bonito Blues Band will be performing soothing blues covers as well and a few of their originals live every Sunday for the entire month of September! Dig into a scrumptious meal at Wahooz and a chilled drink while you enjoy the band’s dreamlike sound that complements the sound of the crashing waves in the distance.

8. Nibs Van Der Spuy, Phillip Henry And Hannah Martin Live

South Africa’s guitar maestro Nibs van der Spuy and the powerful folk duo Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin are teaming up for a live performance.

Our national gem Nibs is now lighting up the international stage. He has also been nominated for seven awards and he has managed to round-up an international following. He’s shared the stage with a few other cool kids like; Ben Harper, Bonnie Rait and Taj Mahal, Kelly Joe Phelps and Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Phillip and Henry won Best Duo 2014 at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. They have been showered with praises saying that they bring something special to the music scene with an unusual mix of English, Irish, Indian and Celtic textures.

This mash up is surely going to be one for the books. Be sure not to miss out, it’s going to be ridiculous, the perfect treat to help you digest your lunch comfortably.
