City View

Nestled just outside the heart of Durban’s city centre, the recently revamped City View Shopping Centre is a favourite new shopping destination in the trendy and popular area of Berea. Formerly known as Game City, the 29 year old Centre has undergone a dramatic revamp and now boasts a stunning modern finish and improved shopping experience offering 18000m² of prime retail space.  Built in 1985, City View forms part of many childhood memories. The Centre is rich with history and has experienced many changes over the years, with the most significant being the name change in the latter part of 2009 from Game City to City View Shopping Centre.

The centre boasts spectacular 360° views of the City, including the impressive Moses Mabhida Stadium and was thus aptly named City View. City View hosts a rather unusual gem, a National Monument known as The Queens Tavern. This colonial landmark was built in 1894 and is the oldest licensed premises in the City. Legend has it that Durban’s famous bunny chow was once created by a chef working at the Queens Tavern.New visitors to the mall will be amazed by the range of stores and value that can be found at City View. The mall is conveniently situated on one level, making the Centre wheelchair friendly with easy access for those in wheelchairs, moms with prams and any shopper pushing a trolley. The Centre is anchored by Game and Shoprite and also hosts many other top retailers including family favourites; Ackermans, Reggies, The Crazy Store, PEP, Markhams, Rage, Mr Price, Clicks, Truworths, Uzzi, Brands Unlimited, Jam Clothing, Telkom 8ta, Vodacom Chatz, Cell C, Kingsmead Shoes and Spec Savers to name a few. Food offerings include Coffee Time, Galitos, Hero Pies and Hotdogs and a Halaal Wimpy, KFC and Debonairs Express.

The Centre boasts the City View Medical Centre, with complete medical facilities based at rooftop level; conveniently add to your shopping experience, including doctors, dentists, psychologists and audiologist rooms. The “Traff’s Carwash”, based on the roof of City View, offers shoppers the opportunity to have your vehicle washed while completing your shopping trip within the mall below.

All parking at City View, rooftop or lower level, is completely secure and unlimitedly free of charge. City View has catered for everyone, boasting conveniently-situated mom-and-child reserved parking, as well as private baby-changing amenities in all bathrooms.
