Hair Sensation
If there were Oscars handed out for beauty pageant hairstyling, Shirley Naidoo would have certainly picked up her statuette. She is the owner of Hair Sensations, based at the Hilton Hotel Durban and who has been the official hairdresser for many beauty pageants, exhibitions, international conferences and special events held at the Durban ICC.
Regarded as the expert when it comes to weddings and matric dances, her hairstyle creations have featured in various industry and fashion magazines. Shirley has grown her entrepreneurial credibility and reputation based on honesty, quality service and establishing an outstanding rapport with her clients.
As her enterprise blossomed, she quietly developed a new culture for social responsibility beginning with the lesser privileged people, giving hope to the differently-abled people and frail elders. She firmly believes that there is no virtue equal to compassion. She also believes in making a difference to the lives of many people, rich or poor, powerful or vulnerable, with whom she interacts with daily.
Putting Shirley under the magnifying glass reveals a consummate woman of boundless energy and enthusiasm, a top-flight business woman, hairdressing diva, diligent trainer and tutor. In addition to all this, she is also a caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, community all-rounder and regarded as a role model in the hairdressing sector.
Commenting on her widespread accomplishments, Shirley noted, “Success seemed to be such a long way ahead when I first started my hairdressing career in 1975, but with enthusiasm, determination and firm faith in my abilities, I set out to climb the corporate ladder one rung at a time. I attribute my meteoric rise to where I am today at the Hilton Hotel in Durban, to my Guru and to my very hardworking and dedicated team of employees whom I regard as my extended family.”
Not only has she made her mark as a successful hairdresser, but has also made a worthwhile contribution to her community. Apart from earning over 100 diplomas and prestigious awards in various disciplines of hairdressing, she still strives to be on the top of her game. Most recently, she was awarded the Icon of Hairdressing for KwaZulu-Natal and also placed for doing Ethnic Hair at the EOHCB hairdressing championships.
Shirley and her team at Hair Sensations are available for all your professional hairdressing needs, with the added convenience of being located on the Durban ICC precinct.
