Sumaiya Essa RD (SA), completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics at the University of Kwazulu Natal in Pietermaritzburg. Thereafter she did her community service year at Kopanong Hospital in Vereeniging, Gauteng. She then continued to work in the public sector at Greys Hospital in Pietermaritzburg to gain more experience in the field of dietetics.
Sumaiya has always had a dream of starting her own private practice, and so she decided to pursue this in 2015. She is passionate about helping and motivating people to make the necessary changes towards a healthier lifestyle. Every day at the practice is truly a rewarding experience.
My aim is to provide you with sound nutritional advice so that you can reach your health goals through a healthy balanced diet and lifestyle.

Sumaiya is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as well as the Association for Dietetics in South Africa (ADSA) and is conscientious with attending continuous nutrition education programs to ensure she is up to date with the latest in nutrition research.
She is also accredited provider for Discovery Vitality nutrition consultations to assist members with achieving their health and wellness goals. Sumaiya has a special interest in diabetes care and has been certified by the Centre of Diabetes and Endocrinology (CDE) as a preferred provider for the management of their members.
Sumaiya has always believed that “you are what you eat” and chose this career in nutrition and dietetics to educate, inspire and encourage people to make the right food choices.
As the great Hippocrates once said, “Let food be thy medicine and let medicine be thy food”.
