About the Mall

In 1986 the original railway workshop for the Durban Station was refurbished and transformed into what is now known as, The Workshop Shopping Centre.

This unique and breathtaking historical landmark was constructed in 1860 and carries with it all the character and charm of the Colonial era. The original iron girders soar up to the vaulted glass roof, which now provides the framework of South Africa’s first themed Shopping Centre.

The Workshop enjoys a dynamic market welcoming shoppers from different walks of life, from African to European Cultures which add to the uniqueness of the Centre’s one of a kind offering.

Surrounded by well known buildings such as the Durban Exhibition Centre, The International Convention Centre, ABSA Stadium, Moses Mabhida Stadium and the Durban Tourist office and not forgetting the hotels which are in close proximity which make it easy access the Shopping Centre from your holiday destination.

Parking Bays

The Workshop have 1,251 parking bays, consisting of 350 open parking, 895 undercover parking and 6 disabled bays, all for customer convenience.
Security

The centre is monitored by cctv and competent security officers 24 hours a day. Security can be contacted via the centre’s switchboard no. after hours. All parking bays are patrolled continuously, adding a sense of safety and security to all shoppers and those visiting the centre.
