Started in 1967 in a backyard in Johannesburg, Tiger Wheel & Tyre is not just your average wheel and tyre supplier. We remember where we came from, and still believe in offering real customer service and expert advice – always.

FOUNDING

It all started in 1967, when Jimmy Joannou returned from Canada. There, he had learnt how to hand-make custom wheels from scrap rims. He set up Tiger Wheels in his father’s backyard, and eventually started Tiger Speed Den, an accessory shop, with Dennis Cohen.

The business grew, and Tiger Speed Den was eventually relocated to bigger premises in Mint Road, Fordsburg, incorporating a factory, shop and spray-painting business.

In 1972, Eddie Keizan bought the company for R14,000, and went on to become the head of Tiger Wheel & Tyre, as it is known today.
