Durban Will Be Hosting Another International Act Next Year As Music Superstar Chris Brown Confirms His Performance In The City In April!
Fans of music superstar Chris Brown are in for a treat as the Grammy winning singer will be performing live in Durban next year. The announcement was made today, a day ahead of tickets going on sale tomorrow. This will be the second time that the performer will be doing a show in Durban. The first show, which was in December 2012, was a tremendous success.
The multi-platinum-selling singer and songwriter, commonly known as “Breezy” is being brought to South Africa by Glen21 Entertainment, Jalibird and Vertex Events in association with Channel O. The Chris Brown X Tour Live in SA concerts forms a part of a world tour to celebrate the release of Brown’s sixth studio album entitled X.
“We’re really pleased to bring back one of the biggest names in the music industry and to have South Africa as a part of Chris Brown’s international tour promoting his latest album.” say SA Promoters, Glen Netshipise and Sobukwe Jali. The album “X” The album which sees teaming up with artists such as Usher, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Tyga was released on 16 September via RCA Records. It has already reached over one million in sales of “Loyal” featuring Lil Wayne and Tyga.
“Loyal” has claimed the No. 1 spot on Mainstream R&B/Hip chart for nine weeks, eight weeks at the top of the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and two weeks at No. 1 on the Rhythmic chart. Other hits from the album include the latest single “New Flame” and “Love More”. Brown has received much acclaim from his previous albums as well with his 2012 chart-topping album Fortune, debuting at No. 1 on both the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart and earned Brown a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
Brown will be taking concert goers on an experience with him, saying, “I want everyone to take a journey with me through X. We’re going to experience the highs and the lows, the love and the pain.” He will only be performing two shows in his South African leg of his tour. Having sold out his previous tour to Durban, his two shows are scheduled for Joburg and Durban.
Fans of the singer are encouraged to book early and avoid disappointment as most international acts have sold out in Durban in recent years, including the most recent act, John Legend, which sold out in less than a week after tickets were released.
