An abundance of fresh new faces recently turned up to the open model casting, which was held at the Durban Botanic Gardens for the upcoming iconic 8th edition of the annual Durban Fashion Fair presented by the eThekwini Municipality which takes place later in the year at the ICC.

Just over 1000 model hopefuls, who are not affiliated to any model agency and have never modelled before, turned up over the weekend to audition in front of a panel of judges made up of professional models and designers, hoping to clinch a spot to participate in the DFF’s upcoming model boot camps.

The model boot camps provide each model with training by industry experts, from how to pose in front of the camera to walking like a professional on the catwalk, with the ultimate prize, participating in the Durban Fashion Fair.

The City has created this platform for new faces/potential models offering them an opportunity to break into the local modelling industry. Seen at the event were:

Luyanda Makhowa, Mazisi Ndlovu, Thembelani Zondo

Zakhele Khumalo, Brenda Quin, Sibahle Ndlela, Cameron Scott

Thandeka Ntuli, Sthabiso Mthethwa, Phindile Mthembu
