After a hugely successful run in  Durban in 2012, and Johannesburg last December, and after much popular demand, we bring back to Durban an ALL NEW Kuch Kuch Happens…

Boasting a plethora of sell-out titles under the Eastern Moves banner (East Meets West, Dance With Me Baby, Dancing with the Legends, Sleeping Beauty and My Fair Lady to name a few), Kuch Kuch Happens was the perfect choice to be re-imagined with a brand new stellar cast, world class choreography, and music from the golden era to the latest chart topping Bollywood hits.

Written by Yujir Ramparsad, Kuch Kuch Happens is a quintessential love story told entirely through music and dance. The extravaganza takes you on a dramatic journey of unrequited love through a classic Bollywood love triangle spiced with mesmerising dancers, dazzling costumes and fabulous lighting – with a few twists and surprises in-between. A rollercoaster of emotions and a diverse palette of songs in the production ensures that audiences of all ages and tastes be left spellbound. Each song has been carefully selected to appropriately enhance each scene in the story.

Our multicultural cast is lead by South Africa’s best in the Bollywood entertainment industry. Sashin Kandhai is a choreographer, dancer and actor born in Durban, now living in Johannesburg and working with the multifaceted entertainment company, Oriental Fire. He is the winner of many local and international dance championships, and has shared the stage with Bollywood superstars like Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Madhuri Dixit, under the training of Bollywood choreographer to the stars, Geeta Kapur. His dance covers of popular Bollywood songs have garnered phenomenal views on social media – most being recognised and shared by the stars of these songs.

Shaastra Nagesar is a dancer and radio personality on Lotus FM. She is currently the producer and co-presenter on the Breakfast Show. She began dancing at the age of 8 and is a qualified Kumari in the classical dance form of Bharata Natyam. From stage to television presenting, entertainment is in her blood! Her acting talent is simply breathtaking, and her genuine personality is enjoyed by her thousands of fans.

Uraysha Ramrachia, a classically trained dancer, has built a repertoire performing dance forms such as Kathak, Indian Folk, Contemporary, African Contemporary and IndoJazz for numerous dignitaries and international events. Further training includes working with exponents of the Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts and Jhalak Dikhlaja Winner and Bollywood choreographer Shampa Sonthalia, amongst others. Uraysha is also a graduate of Anupam Kher’s acting school – Actor Prepares, based in Mumbai, which couples perfectly with her degrees in both Drama and Law. She has held titles such as Miss IPL Deccan Chargers and Miss India Mauritius.

This dynamic trio portray our title characters – Sameer, Neha and Meera. Joined by our extremely talented cast of 23 local dancers, Kuch Kuch is about to happen at The Playhouse Opera Theatre between 27-30 June 2019 powered by Memsaab and LAB24.
