The Fine Art of Fine DiningZio
It’s Art Week in Johannesburg where all things to do with fine art are being talked about and shown at venues all over the city. To celebrate #JoburgArtWeek, Zio La Famiglia, the Italian bistro in upmarket Hyde Park, will host an Art of Dining event to honour contemporary local artists. There will be an intersection of food and art as social media art influencer, Thembakazi Matroshe introduces patrons to art trends and introduces two up and coming emerging artists. Courvoisier, makers of the top-end cognac, will ensure that arriving guests are treated to a welcome drink. Zio Executive Chef, Jonathan Nel, has designed a cornucopia of culinary canapés to tease the palate while art lovers take in the works of emerging visual artists Dumisani Bini and Thoka Frans. Both artists’ work is vibrant and bold. Both produce large canvasses that represent both the good and the different in the lives of Africans. Art influencer, Thembi, a Johannesburg based curator who has a BA Curatorship Honours from the University of Cape Town, will talk about her experience as a curator and talk about the art on display. She will also share with guests why she thinks investing in art in the current market is a good decision. Thembi, who has worked in art galleries, museums and in higher education and arts administration, also researches and delivers exhibitions and arts events. All artworks on display at Zio on the night will be on sale.
